AC Milan, as a club, is one of the most successful in Italy. Beginning with their first Italian championship title in 1901, their journey has resulted in numerous victories. They are the recipient of a Golden Star for Sport Excellence, awarded to signify ten Serie A titles. (AC Milan currently has a total of seventeen Serie A titles). Prevailing even during some of the rougher periods in the club’s history, they club continued to be competitive. When the team was relegated to playing Serie B, they earned two Serie B titles. In addition, Milan can lay claim to five Italian Cup wins. The UEFA Champions League is a cup competition pitting the most elite teams in Europe against one another. Also called the European Cup, it is considered the most prestigious trophy a club team can earn. AC Milan has won this title seven times, with the most recent European Cup title coming in 2007. Milan also claimed their one and only FIFA World Cup victory in 2007, the same year they won their most recent UEFA Super Cup. With numerous other titles both at the national and international level, Milan has proven to be a club with a winning strategy, not likely to stop any time soon.
